Concrete Done Right
Concrete work for Santa Monica homes — decorative patios and driveways, footings for masonry walls, slab foundations, stamped and colored surfaces, and pool decks. Mixed, poured, and finished by crews who know California rebar and slump specs.
How We Work
Every masonry project — walls, stonework, patios, or concrete — runs the same way. One crew chief from the first site walk through final cleanup.
1. Design and engineering
We size the slab, set the rebar schedule, plan control joints, and confirm finish (broom, smooth, stamped, exposed aggregate, or color) before pouring.
2. Forms and prep
Excavation, base compaction, vapor barrier if interior, rebar mat or grid per engineering, edge forms and screed lines set to grade.
3. Pour and finish
Mix delivered, placed, screeded, floated, and finished to spec. Stamped or colored work done at the right cure window. Control joints cut, sealed, and final cure.
When You Need Concrete
Concrete is the right call when:
- New driveway, patio, or walkway — large surfaces are cost-efficient in concrete vs. pavers, especially in plain or broom finish.
- Footings for walls or columns — every masonry wall over three feet needs an engineered concrete footing.
- Stamped or decorative finish — stamped concrete imitates flagstone or cobble at a lower price point.
- Color or exposed aggregate — integral color, broadcast finish, or polished aggregate dresses up a flat slab.
- Pool deck or sport court — large flat surfaces where concrete is the right tool.
- Replacing cracked existing concrete — sometimes a full demo-and-pour is cheaper than chasing crack repairs.
We can also do colored, polished, and exposed-aggregate finishes if you want more than plain gray. Call: (310) 356-9429

What Affects the Cost of Concrete
Concrete pricing is per square foot with finish add-ons. Depends on:
- Square footage. Larger pours scale efficiently per foot.
- Thickness and rebar. Driveways need 4-6 inches with #4 rebar grid; patios 4 inches; sidewalks 3-4 inches.
- Finish. Broom is cheapest. Smooth-trowel, exposed aggregate, integral color, and stamped each step up in price.
- Site access. Pumpable vs. wheelbarrow vs. truck-direct affects labor time.
- Demo and prep. Removing old concrete, regrading, and base prep add line items.
- Control joints and sealing. Saw-cut control joints, sealants, and curing compounds are part of the price.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long until I can walk or drive on new concrete?
Walk on it after 24-48 hours. Drive on it after 7 days. Full strength at 28 days. We tell you when each milestone is safe.
Will it crack?
All concrete cracks eventually — that’s why we cut control joints at the right spacing to direct where cracks form (invisibly, in the joints). Skip the control joints and you get random surface cracks. We don’t skip them.
Can you do stamped or colored?
Yes — stamped concrete imitates flagstone, slate, or cobble. Integral color (mixed in the batch) or broadcast color (applied at finish) both available. We do test samples on site before the main pour.
Plain gray, broom, or smooth?
Broom is the standard outdoor finish — slip-resistant and matches most homes. Smooth-trowel is for interior or covered patios. Exposed aggregate gives texture and color without stamping.
Do I need a permit?
Most flatwork doesn’t. New driveways sometimes need a Santa Monica encroachment permit if the apron touches the public sidewalk. We pull what’s needed.
